Size 8 dress inspired by the old versions of the fairy tale Sleeping Beauty. The dress is in three layers of cotton organdie, each layer infused with detailed symbolism relating to the sinister and sensual nature of the fairy tale. Each layer is constructed separately, then extensively embroidered before being dyed. The two green layers feature highly detailed embroidery and cutwork edges, with occasional glimpses of spider, beetle and skull motifs, subtly symbolic of the sinister depths of the traditional versions of this popular fairy tale. The outer layer features further embroidery and appliqué. Vine leaves, handcrafted from printed satin and embellished with embroidered spindly hands adorn specific body sites, representing sensual arousal and suggestive of themes expressed in the tale.
